Sleepy...

Met Elaine and Ju for lunch at Amoy St market earlier... Was supposed to meet at 12.30pm, but was chatting with Ju till 12.25pm and realised that HEY! It's time to go... hahah... girls will be girls! Anyway, Elaine was later than us...

Had Chicken rice for lunch and I think that's part of the reason why I'm so freaking SLEEPY now!!!! Rice for lunch always makes me sleepy after lunch... Sheessh... Even after my 8-course Tung Lok lunch at Noble House yesterday wasn't this bad... It was a biz lunch... and other than the PR part, lunch was good. It was yummy... and DELICIOUS! Hehehe... from Tofu that's as soft as silk, with a layer of crispy skin which is not at all dry cuz of the gravy, to the shark's fin soup where you actually can taste the individual pieces of scallop and fish maw and mushrooms and crab! Hehe... and apart from all the main courses, the meal ended with yummy Mango Sago for dessert... But well, that was yesterday's lunch... hehehe

Am partly so sleepy because I've not been sleeping earlier than 2am for the past few nights this whole week!! Stayed up to complete uploading the musical photos and the pictures from B.B.Q at Wayne's place FINALLY... Everyone was bugging me for it... And also stayed up to do miscellaneous stuff. It's like, the later I sleep, the more time I have to do the things that I like... Essentially, it's more time for myself... But it's very bad... I don't feel well rested... Ok, that's something else that I got to change...

Yesterday was an eventful night. Recieved a call from Aunty Ruby out of the blue. Said that the rest of them were gathering at her place for dinner... Asked me to go along... So, thinking that I would go cuz I've not seen the rest for ages, I went. Luckily I brought along a tin of Pineapple tarts from Bengawan Solo (With compliments from Rob)... Cuz it was her BIRTHDAY!! She din tell us about it at all!! I din even know until the others mentioned it. HEhhe... So pai seh!

But it was good. We did loads of catching up on what's happening... And things have been happening!!! Tonnes of things... But yesterday was really saddening for me... Mostly, we got updated on news that were not at all nice to hear... If you think that drama happens only on the TV programs by Mediacorp... You are wrong... But I guess, the more important thing is, at least these people are moving on in life... or at least they are trying to move on...

It kinda got me to thinking... Sometimes you just got to take life with a pinch of salt... I'm not saying that it's good to be skeptical but there are alot of things which goes much deeper than what it appears to be on the surface. Hahah... I know this is not new... but unless you experience them personally, you can never understand how someone else feels... Sigh, din expect my night to end with a heavy heart... But well, life goes on doesn't it?? *grins*

The Da Vinci Code...

Was busy shopping at Far East Plaza over the weekend. How it all started, can be credited to my dear friends. Rachel was out having dinner with Cynthia and Raquel on friday night before heading down to Devil's Bar. If you know girls, you will also know that it is a common practice for a dinner appointment to be followed by shopping as dessert, as long as shops are still open... Anyway, they chanced upon this shop which they claim to sell very, very pretty dresses... And all three of them bought dresses of the same type in different print designs and colors. And... my dear girl Rachel, decided that we should all wear those dresses for her wedding in DECEMBER (which is like freaking long time away...) And because of that, I had to drag my feet down to FEP to scout for the dress, and to BUY one for myself...

Anyway, while walking through those shops (after buying my dress), I got bored and decided that I should pay Sunny bookshop a visit to make my day sunnier... You see, yes, girls love shopping... But when your shopping costs goes above a certain amount, it just makes you depress... So much for what they claim to be retail theraphy huh... well, I guess it's just me.

In any case, I have been looking forward to read "The Da Vinci Code " after Kian Ming went on and on about how good it was. So, I bought that and this other favourite book of mine, "A Fine Balance ". Read it once, but really want to read it again...

I started on "The Da Vinci Code " yesterday, but being so busy, I only covered 3 chapters so far. However, it is already enthralling. I suppose it's because part of the story relates to the Catholic Church. In the story, it talks about Opus Dei, which is a Catholic group that supposedly evoke controversy among members of the Catholic church and those outside. It caught my attention immediately because I have friends who are members of the Opus Dei Group.

I think it would be interesting to find out more about it... I dunno but I figured that it shall be my personal 'mini' project to find out more about it... :) Anyway, here's an article that is with regards to "The Da Vinci Code " that I came across in my research online on Opus Dei... Check it out...

Here are some other links that look really interesting...

CommunicAsia...

Been busy with CommunicAsia lately... For those who following the technology scene closely, CommunicAsia is one of the bigger technological trade shows in the Asia Pacific region. We have been running all over the grounds of Singapore Expo from Hall 1 to Hall 6 to cover new products that were been showcased, or announcements made by the different participating vendors.

Most communications vendors will take this opportunity to hold their own company's events during this period. Which explains why Nokia had their new product preview and launch during the first two days of CommunicAsia over at Raffles City... It was a good opportunity to gain exposure to foreign media who were invited down to the region for CommunicAsia coverage...

Anyway, out of the 4 days events, I was only there for 1 day. It was because being the most junior journalist in the team, I stayed back in office to wait for press releases to come in, for events that we could not attend due to manpower shortage. But in anycase, my colleagues took yummy pictures of babes and gadgets that were being paraded around during the event.

Anyway, putting work aside, life's been good! Hahhaha... I suppose I've not finished catching up with my social life since my involvement in the musical ended. Met up with my friends from my seconday school days... Hahah.. was pretty fun! It has been a while since the whole jing gang of us turned up. Usually it was a group of 3-4 people... Time truely flies... I don't even have time to read! I should really start reading again... There's a list of about 4 book titles awaiting for me to check them out. ARGH! I need a more systematic LIFE!

Wild Wild night…

But the wild night did not belong to me. Was at Bar None earlier tonight… or morning... hhahaa… Went there with a couple of friends and my good friend who just came back from the U.S. some weeks ago. Said that she wanted to catch up with the night scene in Singapore… Yeah so we’ve been going to some places and tonight, Bar None happened to be our choice.

As usual Doug O was goooooooood… Love his singing… but the ‘spoil’ factor was that I went after work, so was dressed in corporate wear, and with my handbag, I wasn’t really in the mood to groove to the music. Don’t really like dancing with skirt… But anyway… was in my speckies too… Feel so nerdy… Bleah…

Anyway, while the 4 gals--my friends and I--stood around ‘gently’ swaying to the music while the rest around us are dancing wildly and madly, Doug O made an announcement about someone having a Hen’s night and invited her up on stage. Oh My Goodness… She was pretty and had a good figure… and belonged to the sweet-looking type… You wouldn’t relate her to being a bitch… and WILD… She wore a pink veil with those pink feather like scarf and danced around Doug, smiled shyly… and yet was not at all shy… Anyway, that was nothing…

After a while, Doug invited 3 guys--2 Caucasians, and 1 Chinese--to come on stage… and they were to treat her as if she’s their bride and tell her words of love… And surprise surprise… The Chinese guy was voted to be the most romantic cuz he said something about her looking perfect tonight or something… Anyway, the Hen… opps.. the bride-to-be and the Chinese guy each got a shot of tequila on the house….

After that, bride-to-be (now known as Hen), got off the stage and boy she could dance… As wild, as groovy as can be… My friends and I were standing right beside her table and before we knew it, she was licking salt off this other Caucasian guy’s body for tequila and no, it was not just a lick. It was a long lick which went up and down the guy’s torso.... But that was nothing… After that, the next glance that I took saw her French kissing this other girl… the glance became a look… hahaha… I think the kiss lasted for like at least a min to two… After that, another girl took over and French kissed her again. I think the men around her who saw what was going were going wild. Think they must be thinking what a waste it was that she was getting married… Two Chinese guys beside us were teasing each other to go get a queue number….

Hahaha… happening or what huh… but I can’t imagine myself doing that man… Hehehe… Anyway, was fun lar… I had a tat too much to drink and I actually felt faint… I think I’m losing my alcoholic tolerance… Shall stay off drinks from now… Hehehhe...

Just came home around 3am... am feeling so sleepy now... but can't sleep cuz got to dry my hair and hence this entry... But shall go dry my hair now cuz I can't keep my eyes open anymore...

Trips trips trips!

It's funny how things work around you sometimes. Just recently, I booked a trip to Bangkok together with some of my friends because I feel that I need a holiday… away from Singapore? Haven't had one this year… and don't mention my Penang trip…

Anyway, today, I just found out that I've been assigned to go on a press trip to Shanghai in July for 3 days… Good: I get to go Shanghai!!! Bad: Pressure pressure pressure… got to file story from some foreign country, and I don't even know how to set up Internet connections etc etc etc… or whatever procedures necessary because it's my first long-distance press trip… *presssuuuurreeeeeee…..bbbbbmmmmmmm*

Okay, nevermind… will worry about that when the date gets nearer… about a month more… for all you know, the trip may get cancelled or something… Hahah

Oh Oh! And my mum just suggested that we should go for a family trip in Hong Kong in August because she has to clear some annual leave… Which has a high chance of occurrence… Talk about good news coming in pairs… or MORE!

OoOoOHhH…. I finally uploaded some of the musical pictures last night!! But uploading half of the whole batch took me like 2 hours… stayed up till 2+ a.m. to upload… There more to come man… Anyway, so I was super zonked today… But it wasn't too bad… attended a product launch event at Orchard Cineleisure today…

It was the launch of InFocus' two new digital home entertainment projectors. Impressive… And what's more the lower end model costs S$3,199 and is capable of projecting up to 9 feet wide! Which, by the way, is bigger than any S$11,000-S$15,000 plasma tv. Okay, am not paid to advertise… so shan't say more… Hahaha…

*Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeepy……*

Getting fat...

You know how girls somehow get those 'feel fat' days? Well, yeah... I'm in one of those days right now...Wait a minute... I mean one of those period which lasts for months...

ARGH! I'm FAT! Ok Ok... before my friends start rolling their eyes and tell me that if I lose anymore weight I'll disappear into thin air... I'll tell them this. GO GET YOUR EYES CHECKED! I mean man! I feel fat!!!! And I simply AM NOT SLIM either. Any chances of me disappearing into thin air, is like me striking a $10 million ToTo! And the stupid thing is not only do I feel fat, I feel like I'm constantly putting on! Not losing any AT ALL! ARGH!

Alright... enough of my feel fat, gripy mood. Been a while again since I last blogged... Haha.. Been busy attending weddings, watching movies, meeting up with friends. It's like I'm trying to catch up with all the social activities that I've been missing out during the preparation period for the musical. Oh yeah… and recently, actually a couple of days back, I started playing THE SIMS. HAhaha... yeah... THE SIMS. Heard alot about it, but have never tried it before, so I decided to give it a shot. Kinda interesting if you are a 'Tycoon' game kinda person… which happens to be my kind of game. One of those that I don't mind playing… Tried Zoo and Rollercoaster with expansion packs! Wahahaha…

Anyway, have made arrangements for a Bangkok trip end of this month! Yippeeee… shopping!! For 4 whole days!!!!! But you know what that means, that means that I can't shop now… cuz I need to save… Bbb..bbb…BUT it's the GREAT SINGAPORE SALE!!!!!!! Sobz Sobz… Well, in any case, I feel too broke to spend much this month. But to be honest, I have already bought 2 skirts, 1 dress and 1 top thus far! *guilty* It's Rachel and Raquel's FAULT!!! Hehehe…. But can't wait for the trip! It's time to get out of Singapore and not think about work!

Shucks… Just got reminded that I have yet to upload my musical pictures! Argh… Oh! HAhaha… and I have not uploaded my pictures for the Penang trip as promised also. Well, they are all stuck in my digital camera. Haven't had the time to touch it… HAhaha… BZ BZ remember? I hereby promise to do it ASAP… *keeps fingers crossed* *sheepish grin*

Finally, time for blogging...

FINALLY! After the flurry of events and activities that came one after another after the musical last weekend, I finally got the chance to sit down and blog! Hehehe... Been wanting to do it since last Saturday but somehow I couldn't find the time to. Was simply too busy.

Anyway, shall relate the sequence of events in a chronological manner...

Last weekend's musical performance was a success. I suppose the definition of success can be very subjective but in my point of view, it was successful because 1) we did not get booed at, 2) audience laughed and cried at appropriate times - yes, we spotted some people amongst the audience tearing at certain moments of the musical, 3) I got smses from people I know who came to watch the musical saying that we were good and they did not regret watching the musical and one of them said that she was touched by the Holy Spirit... which means 4) We achieved what we set out to do... and 5) Al just told me that some group - can't remember which one - was suggesting that we do the musical again for Mission Sunday.

And that would mean that if we say yes, and there's green light to go ahead for the musical on Mission Sunday, that's going to be our THIRD run!!!!!!! And I'm going to
pretend that I did not hear that suggestion at all until Al comes up to me and tell me specifically what that's all about...

Man... HAhaha, it certainly has been fun doing the musical, but we have done it twice already... for the THIRD time?? Hrm.. need to pray about it... *ohmmmmmmm*

Okies, anyway, after the performance on Sunday, we had a wine and cheese session at Michelle's place...(You can click here to check out the photos.) It was kinda cool... We were getting drunk and red like drunken prawns... haha...

Although it was good fun, I had to leave earlier cause I was leaving on an early flight (8 am) to Penang the next day. It was to meet Michael Dell... Well, he's kinda boyish looking for someone who's 39 and a BILLIONAIRE... But too bad that I was too zonked out and was literally a zombie the whole day, to really enjoy myself.

Taken when travelling on Asia's longest bridge and the World's 3rd longest bridge... Penang Bridge which links Pulau Pinang to Butterworth

Took a tour around the manufacturing plant though. It was definitely interesting! To see how the Dell notebooks, PCs and Servers are assembled. It's kinda amazing to see how everything is so organised because they cater to personalized, direct shipping to their customers. And the plant in Penang actually ships to the U.S. as well as the whole of Asia. That also means that they deal with thousands and thousands and thousands of systems EVERYDAY over at the manufacturing plant. Anyway, the notebooks seem pretty easy to assemble... But anyhow, the complete process of assembling one takes about 5 hours. Which means you are paying S$2000 thereabouts for 5 hours of work plus parts.

Picture of the Dell executives with Michael Dell sitting 2nd from left of picture... partially blocked by the pot of plant

Anyway, took a flight back and only touched down Singapore at close to 11 pm. With 4 hours of sleep the night before, and all the waiting and walking around and travelling on the plane, I was SPACED out... couldn't bring myself to walk once I sat in the car on my journey home...

Penang airport--transit area

And the next day I had to work... at 9am! And people ask me why I'm so tired... You tell me...

And yesterday, I attended Vinny's, my good friend, wedding at this Indian temple at Serangoon Road. Was interesting as it was the first time I was attending an Indian wedding... It looked really complicated with the rituals for blessings and all but was kinda an eye opener... At least now I won't ask questions like what color clothes can we wear? Or what are they doing? Now what are they doing? What does that symbolise? Why are they doing that?

Vinny's temple wedding... purposely chosen to be posted so that there are no fully visible faces... In case she minds being seen on the Internet, in my Blog! :P

Hahaha... No no, I'm still no expert at Indian weddings... Still don't understand more than three quarters of what happens. Anyway, doesn't matter, it was fun showering Vinny's and Sree's (her husband) heads with yellow, uncooked rice... hehehe... It was a way to give them your blessings.

Anyway, went to watch "Shrek 2" after that... Was very funny! Hahaha... so many movies were spoofed in that movie! But I love the Puss in Boots most! Especially when he gets into that 'Puppy Eyes, please say yes' mode... SO CUTE!!!! Hahaha....

Man... Okay, enough blogging for today... It's a darn long entry but you can't blame me... It's the past 5 days of my life lumped together in these few paragraphs!

P.S. I'll insert some pics here once I get home! And no, I'm not skivving... Just taking a break after finishing my article! :)
